A ceremony held to celebrate the signing of an agreement
with the Republic of San Marino Concerning Volunteer Work
On April 15, 2010，16 days after the opening of the Shanghai World Expo, SIT held a ceremony to celebrate the signing of an agreement with the Republic of San Marino and Italy Association and the initiation of a training program of the SIT student volunteers for the Expo, which symbolized that SIT had started a new phase in its student volunteer work.
Republic of San Marino is a state, located within Italy, which enjoys a long friendship with China. It is among the first group of European countries which recognized the sovereignty of P.R. China. The student volunteers will work in the San Marino pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo. Liu Yulu, Vice president of SIT signed the agreement with Mr. Mauro Maiani, the Government representative of the Republic of San Marino. Executive Chairman of the Italy Association, Mr. Zhu Yuhua, Deputy Chairman Mr. Qian Jianzhong, other guests and people from the Youth League, School of Foreign Languages, School of Chemical and Environment Engineering attended the signing ceremony.
Deputy party secretary Song Minjuan delivered a speech at the signing ceremony. She pointed out: signing of the agreement, would expand the cooperation between the two sides and provide more opportunities for the two sides to display and understand each other and develop friendship. Meanwhile, thanks should also be extend to Italy-China Exchange Association for their support to Shanghai World Expo and SIT students volunteers work and especially their commitment to promoting bilateral cooperation and SIT volunteer students’ training. She urged the students to work hard at training, and be ready to sacrifice for the volunteer work, and actively participate in volunteer work.
Mr. Mauro Maiani, Commissioner General of the Republic of San Marino 2010 in Shanghai World Expo in his speech expressed his good impression of SIT, and thanked the Italy Association and SIT for the help they rendered. Meanwhile he also expressed his thanks to the students and expected the students to play an active part in volunteer work.
After the ceremony, Deputy party secretary Song Minjuan and Mr. Mauro Maiani exchanged souvenirs.
