On the morning of June 9, a delegation from Seneca Polytechnic in Canada, led by President David Agnew and including Director of Asia, Africa, and Oceania Region Xiaochuan Huang, visited Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT). SIT President Wang Xiaofan met with the delegation at the Fengxian Campus, accompanied by representatives from the International Office and the Faculty of Flavor, Fragrance, and Cosmetics.

Wang Xiaofan welcomed the delegation and expressed that SIT has distinctive disciplinary strengths and a solid industrial foundation in the fields of flavors, fragrances, and cosmetics, with significant influence in these disciplines nationally. He noted that the university has long leveraged industry resources, established close cooperative relationships with several well-known enterprises, and contributed a large number of high-level professionals to China’s daily chemical and beauty industries.

David Agnew remarked that SIT’s academic strengths and industry influence in flavors, fragrances, and cosmetics are deeply impressive. He highlighted the strong alignment between the two institutions in terms of specialized programs and educational philosophies, pointing to broad potential for collaboration.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on cooperation in cosmetic science and reached a multi-level consensus on collaboration. Plans include jointly offering summer programs, facilitating semester exchanges, and exploring pathways for Seneca Polytechnic undergraduate students to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees at SIT. By leveraging their complementary strengths and sharing resources, the two institutions aim to cultivate high-level professionals with a global perspective and inject new vitality into the global beauty industry.
