On June 16, Li Jiangzhong, Deputy General Manager of the China-Laos Railway Co., Ltd., visited SIT for research and exchange. President Wang Xiaofan warmly received the delegation at the Xuhui Campus. Officials from the Office of Party and Government Affairs and the Office of International Exchange accompanied the reception.

Wang Xiaofan extended a warm welcome to Li Jiangzhong and his delegation, and reviewed the achievements of university-enterprise cooperation over the years. He stated that the university will continue to implement the "bringing in" training model, leveraging its high-quality teaching resources to conduct centralized training. At the same time, relying on the China-Laos Engineer College, the university will explore new paths for tripartite cooperation in "going global" education, collaborating with local Lao universities to launch various models of educational cooperation projects, and adhering to strict admission and graduation standards.

Li Jiangzhong expressed gratitude to the university for its long-standing commitment to cultivating localized talent for the China-Laos Railway. He noted that many international student graduates have grown into key business personnel, and the university's educational achievements have received extensive attention and coverage from mainstream media. He also introduced the operation and development of the China-Laos Railway over the nearly five years since its opening, stating that both passenger and freight traffic are thriving, and the golden corridor effect continues to expand.

Representatives from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on core topics including the operational support of the China-Laos Railway, the training of Lao employees, innovation in industry-education integration models, and the establishment of academic advancement frameworks. Taking into account the railway's workforce demands and the characteristics of Lao employees and international students, both parties reached a consensus on diversified talent cultivation models.

Li Jiangzhong gained a detailed understanding of the university's development history, discipline construction, and practical teaching layout in rail transit-related majors. He visited the exhibition panels documenting the China-Laos Railway Engineering Higher Education Cooperation Project, revisiting the journey of university-enterprise collaboration in cross-border railway talent cultivation. At the on-campus rail transit comprehensive training base, he inspected training equipment and teaching scenarios, and spoke highly of the university's focus on applied talent cultivation and its alignment with frontline railway job requirements.

During a symposium with international students, Li Jiangzhong and his delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges with representative 2026 Lao graduating students, inquiring in detail about their studies and campus life. They fully affirmed the students' academic achievements and comprehensive competencies, and sincerely extended job offers, welcoming the three graduates to join China-Laos Railway Co., Ltd. upon completion of their studies, where they can apply their knowledge to practical railway operations, maintenance, and other work, and contribute to the high-quality development of the China-Laos Railway through dedicated service. The students enthusiastically expressed their willingness to participate in the construction of the China-Laos Railway and give back to their hometown's railway industry.

Both sides will further deepen international industry-education integration and promote people-to-people connectivity. The university will continue to leverage its strengths in applied talent cultivation, precisely align with the localized development needs of the China-Laos Railway, continuously optimize curriculum systems, innovate training models, and enhance teaching quality, so as to deliver more composite local talents who are technologically proficient, linguistically capable, and committed to long-term service for the China-Laos Railway. Through collaborative talent cultivation, both sides aim to support the sustainable and steady development of the China-Laos Railway, and inject lasting momentum into the economic and trade exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and Laos.
