On September 21, the China-Ireland Promotion Event on Sino-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools was held in Beijing. As one of the key outcomes of the event, Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) and Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) signed an inter-university Letter of Intent for Cooperation. President Wang Xiaofan of SIT and President Deirdre Lillis of TU Dublin signed the document on behalf of the two institutions, witnessing together the new starting point of their partnership.

Hosted by Enterprise Ireland / Education in Ireland, the event brought together representatives of 12 Irish higher education institutions, Chinese partner universities and media outlets, aiming to build a platform of dialogue between Chinese and Irish universities, advance Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, and promote the mutual sharing of higher education resources between the two countries. James Lawless, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science of Ireland, attended the event. Amanda Ward, Director of Education in Ireland, delivered the opening remarks and unveiled the official WeChat account for China-Ireland Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools. Nicholas O'Brien, Irish Ambassador to China, and Yang Jun, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Education Association for International Exchange, delivered speeches one after another, envisioning broad prospects for China-Ireland higher education cooperation. Presidents of several Irish universities shared their institutions' distinctive strengths and international cooperation plans.
As one of the invited institutions, Professor Deirdre Lillis, President of TU Dublin — a key partner of SIT — shared the university's philosophy of international education, laying a solid foundation for the two universities to further deepen cooperation and exchange.
TU Dublin is Ireland's largest technological university. With a shared focus on the cultivation of applied engineering and technology professionals, the two universities are highly aligned in their missions and enjoy broad space for cooperation in disciplines such as intelligent technology, intelligent manufacturing, computer science and automation.
The signing of the Letter of Intent with TU Dublin marks an important new step in SIT's internationalization. Going forward, the University will continue to advance the implementation of the agreement, steadily enhance the quality of international education and talent cultivation, and contribute to the continuous deepening of China-Ireland higher education exchanges.
